Kinda weird. So I get a call from a company who says they're interested in having me come in for an interview.
"We have a position open for a Product Marketing Engineer that we'd like to interview you for," says the guy calling.
Interesting, I think to myself. HAHA. How the hell could I be considered for such a position?
"We actually found your resume on Monster about a month ago but are only now getting around to making calls," he continues.
Ahhh. Monster... Cool. Wait a minute... You're considering me for a real person job? (see any past blogs regarding school if you're curious about my stellar academic performance)
"So if possible, will you be able to come in for an interview next week? In the meantime, you can check out our website to see our products and all that stuff," he finishes.
"Sure. Next week sounds great," I say in my white-guy, howdy-doody, interview mode.
So it turns out, I have two resumes active on Monster. I thought I only had the one where it says I was a normal, regular old intern at Sun and Cisco. It just so happens that I also made an "enhanced" copy where I was a Product Marketing Intern and Technical Marketing Engineer Intern at those two places, respectively. I'm guessing they read the "enhanced" copy.
Since it's possibly a real job, I thought I'd check out the company, do some research on what I could potentially be selling. Lo and behold, my favorite subject comes back to haunt me! Circuit stuff! Well... to tell you the truth, I'm not sure if it's circuit stuff. But the abbreviations and such lead me to believe it is related. In my effort to do research on their product offerings, I've discovered I have no clue what they sell and what it's good for.
Wish me luck.
